Kelley Highway Bridge Replacement - Fort Smith, AR
Crafton Tull provided civil and structural engineering, surveying, and construction observation for the Kelley Highway Bridge replacement. The design required widening the bridge from two to four lanes in stages to maintain the flow of traffic. The 202' -0" bridge is a continuous composite W-beam unit with 51' -0" of clear roadway and sidewalks on each side. Mechanically stabilized earth walls were constructed at the abutments to provide clear zones along I-540. The project also included widening off-ramps and adding traffic signals and decorative lighting.
The project won the transportation category for the Arkansas Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Award.
