The Hot Springs School District, which serves a large minority population within the city of Hot Springs, sought to develop a super-campus by constructing a new Junior Academy near their World Class High School. One of the first new buildings in over 50 years, the 171,330-square-foot building would hold classes, a 2,200-seat arena, a 1,000-seat auditorium, and multi-use functionality throughout shared spaces.

The 12.5-acre project site was a plot of undeveloped pastures and woodland, which posed significant challenges in layout, elevation, and stormwater drainage. Additional obstacles included the need for the building to be flexible in its usage and easily accessible for cars and buses.

Our team developed efficient and effective strategies to address the concerns of the HSSD, completing the Junior Academy on time and under budget.
