PROJECTS
Blossom Way Creek Restoration
This two phase project started with Emergency Bank Stabilization and will end in a restored section of natural channel.
Phase I involved emergency repair of approximately 300 feet of streambank beginning approximately 1,700 feet downstream of Bellview Road. The Razorback Greenway trail parallels much of the stream. A curve in the stream made this section particularly vulnerable to erosion. New construction of a bridge just before this portion of Blossom Way also made streambank improvements critical. The goal for Phase I was to stabilize the bank, temporarily prevent additional streambank loss, and protect the Razorback Greenway recreational trail until a permanent solution can be implemented. Crafton Tull prepared construction documents for improvements, coordinated with contractors and provided construction oversight, coordinated revegetation with the city, coordinated permitting, and coordinated with groups developing the surrounding properties.
Phase II involved natural channel design for approximately 800 – 1,000 feet of Blossom Way Creek to restore the stream for long-term stability. This phase, too, required extensive coordination with development going on around the site. Crafton Tull coordinated 404 and 401 permits, ADEQ STAA permits, coordinated with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service provided HEC-RAS modeling, native planting plans and prepared bid documents for project construction.
