PROJECTS
Rogers Stormwater Study + Drainage Manual
Crafton Tull was contracted in 2021 to update city records of stormwater infrastructure and to model and analyze the city’s watersheds. This project continues Crafton Tull’s history of working with the City of Rogers on their stormwater network which began in 1989 with the creation of their drainage manual. This work was completed in late 2023. The project was a comprehensive effort completed with the assistance of Wright Water Engineers.
The project delivered 1) A complete GIS database of the location and condition of existing stormwater infrastructure across the city with an attribute table set up for easy addition of newly built infrastructure. 2) SWMM Models of the stormwater network connected to the streams throughout the city to analyze function and flooding during storm events, as well as allowing modeling of future conditions and impacts. 3) Identification of deficiencies within the current built stormwater system. 4) An analysis of the stream conditions throughout the city allowing for understanding of which portions are in good and poor condition, as well as allowing the city to take a targeted approach for stream restoration or preservation. 5) Preliminary analysis of regional detention opportunities to reduce downstream flooding conditions and prepare for future upstream development.
This information was delivered through a series of models, a geodatabase, and a comprehensive report discussing the findings with recommendations of future next steps. Moving forward, the City of Rogers is continuing to work with Crafton Tull to develop a municipal Stormwater Plan and the stormwater portion of their municipal development code. The project set the City of Rogers up to be a leader in stormwater analysis within the Northwest Arkansas region and better prepares the city to handle the expected land use changes as the region continues to grow.
